Balancing aesthetics and security in hotel build

Problem

A Hotel Management firm engaged Toro to deliver the security design requirements for a new-build boutique high-end hotel in London.

Toro had successfully delivered a physical and cyber security review of an existing hotel managed by the firm and delivered a security design package for an extension to that hotel.

Response

Toro undertook a Security Needs Assessment (SNA) following Building Research Establishment (BRE) security risk management standards. Through our Suitably Qualified Security Specialist (SQSS), Toro delivered a security design concept presenting product options meeting the aesthetic requirements whilst achieving the necessary security standards. A security workshop with the project tram was then undertaken to explain the design basis and how the security provisions would interact with the hotels design concept and operational requirements.

Outcome

The clients construction team were able to plan security into the concept design phase of the project reducing time later spent to retrofit security solutions into a pre-existing design. Toro were engaged further to support the project consulting on later design changes.
