Protecting high-risk individuals from targeted cyber threats
Problem
After a series of threats, and concern over loss of intellectual property, or reputational damage, after alleged surveillance of an accountancy firm’s Equity Partner, Toro were requested to investigate and gather evidence of any hostile surveillance, assist with the extraction of evidence from a corporate iPhone, and provide physical and cyber security assistance and training.
Response
Toro deployed a residential security team to the Partner’s location to provide reassurance to the Partner and their family. A full technical surveillance countermeasures sweep was undertaken, and a Toro forensic team examined the corporate iPhone internally for signs of tamper and extracted data from the device for use as evidence; additional family-owned devices were also forensically examined. Personal security and cyber security training was provided to the family, and evidence gathered passed on to appropriate parties.
Outcome
The Partner, and family, were able to return to their home having had all personal and corporate devices checked and found to be free of surveillance. Evidence gathered proved critical to the legal team, during a later legal case against the threat actor alleged to have surveilled the partner.
